Fernando Gallego was honored with Grupo Pro Arte y Cultura’s 2020 Award for Artistic Jewelery. The awarding jury made special mention of the craftsmanship of the goldsmith, from the design to the artisanal execution of the pieces. In the words of the group’s director, artist Pedro Sandoval, “here we have one of the best designers and jewelery-makers in the country, whose work is original, varied and fascinating. I’d especially like to mention his pieces inspired by art and also the way he brings antiquities to life in his work. Fernando Gallego proves that jewelery-making is a very important display of culture”
Grupo Pro Arte, founded by artist and patron Mayte Spinola, is comprised of artists, patrons, and art lovers, among whom painter Antonio López, writer Carmen Posadas, and collector Carmen Thyssen are notable members. The group is dedicated to the dissemination of art, creating and financing museums, supporting emerging artists, etc.
