18K yellow gold Claddagh ring. Handcrafted and delivered with a certificate.
According to a 17th-century legend, Richard, a young man from the fishing village of Claddagh, emigrated to the East Indies in search of fortune, leaving his beloved behind with the promise that he would return to marry her. However, during the voyage, his ship was attacked by pirates, and he was sold into slavery to a goldsmith in Algeria.
The young man turned out to have great talent as a craftsman, and after 14 years, when he was finally freed, the goldsmith offered him his daughter’s hand in marriage and to make him his heir. But Richard, true to his promise, chose to return home to his beloved and designed this ring for her — a symbol of love and loyalty.
Since then, it has become a cherished Irish ring, worn not only as an engagement or wedding ring, but also as a symbol of friendship.
